FAQ's about eSchoolBC's AP courses:
Who can sign up for an eSchoolBC course?
Anyone who has approval from a local school counsellor or a counsellor is welcome to take an eSchoolBC course. The role of the counsellor is to ensure you have the prerequisites and are a strong and motivated student. Anything less and you won't be successful as a virtual student.
How much does it cost?
eSchoolBC courses are free. A textbook deposit will be due for some courses where the student is not part of School District #23. The deposit is refunded when the text is returned.
Where to I write exams?
Each school in School District #23 has an eSchoolBC support teacher who can arrange exams for their students. Click the "Staff & Contact Information" button on the right for more info about your school's eSchoolBC Intervention teacher. If the student is not a part of School District #23, then they are responsible to find an exam manager. Students can ask typically find an exam manager through local schools, other virtual programs, colleges, or libraries. Once an exam manager is sorted out, they can e-mail the teacher specifying their official position and willingness to manage the exam.
Do I need to write Provincial exams?
Talk to your local school counsellors about your need for writing provincial exams. If you are an adult, you can contact Central School to discuss this with a counsellor who is familiar with adult requirements. More details can be found HERE.
Where do I write Provincial exams?
Students normally write provincial exams at their home school. Thus, it is necessary for the students and teachers to discuss student needs as they come to the end of a provincially examinable provincial course.
Writing Provicial Exams outside of BC
This is only available to grade 12 students who can't return to BC to write for some reason that the ministry deems reasonable. The student is responsible for lining up an appropriate exam manager (school, college, embassy...) and the teacher will submit a Request for Adjudication Form to the ministry. Upon approval, the exam information will be sent directly from the ministry to the exam manager.
